Together, we create the green spaces where belonging takes root.
Stewardship and programmingThese parks and gardens are true healing spaces because of the neighbors and volunteers that steward them. We hire local park stewards, organize events and facilitate community gardens so that every space is an oasis of healing and calm in the heart of the city.
“We understand that decisions made by people before us have impacted the environment in a negative way. So this is our collective responsibility, to create spaces like this. It’s not only on the LA Neighborhood Land Trust. There have got to be people to use this space and to take care of the space consistently.”

Community Gardens
Our Community Gardens are neighborhood hubs for gardening workshops, community building and fresh, healthy produce. We oversee memberships for 265 garden beds at an affordable rent of $5 per month, providing fresh food for nearly 1,000 family members annually.
Park Stewards
More than 15 of our sites are owned and operated by the Land Trust, and we hire from the communities which host these green spaces. We’ve brought on 12 community-hired stewards to maintain the parks, ensuring safety and fostering local ownership.
Garden Apprenticeship Program
In partnership with LAUSD, we host a 9-month program for students to learn about environmental justice, leadership development and gardening, health and wellness. So far the program has trained 400 student leaders in urban gardening and environmental stewardship.
