Grupo Unidos de Marson Park is a community group in Panorama City that has been working together since 2004 to improve quality of life in their neighborhood and successfully advocate for green space. Marson Park opened its gates in 2007 after being built on a former empty lot. It was the second of three parks built in 2005 with funds from philanthropist Anna Bing Arnold, a wealthy NY real estate heiress who left money for the park in her will.

In partnership with Grupo Unidos de Marson Park and the community, the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust negotiated a 99-year lease for the land with the City of Los Angeles. We designed the park after spending hours gathering input from the community. The 6,000 square foot park includes a playground, shaded seating and covered picnic grounds.

Today, Marson Park serves as a community hub and is the only place in the neighborhood where people can enjoy outdoor recreation. LANLT offers free recreational programming there, including aerobics, cardio salsa, Zumba, martial arts, art workshops and just last year, it was part of our new partnership with The Music Center, which brought Peruvian music and dance ensemble INCA to the park as part of our 6-part performance series. This delightful performance brought families and neighbors together for food, dance, music and connection.
