Community Gardening
The Eagle Rock Community Garden is coming to life under the leadership of Master Gardener Mary Tokita. On the 1100 block of Rockdale Ave, it is planning for an opening in time to plant spring’s tomatoes. The Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council will support installation of a water meter, and the City of Los Angeles’ Community Development Department’s Fresh Food Access Program will fund the construction of the fence and planting beds.

Helen Johnson
In October 2004 a special community gardener, Mrs. Helen Johnson, passed away at her home in Vermont Square. Helen enjoyed a long career, gave generously of her time and energy to her family, community, and to the LACGC. She is sorely missed.
The Los Angeles Community Garden Council, a non-profit corporation, was founded to connect people with community garden spaces in their neighborhoods.
